چکیده

The technique of farming two or more crops in the same field at time is known as intercropping. It has been practiced for decades. provides a number benefits, including efficient and effective resource utilization, less soil erosion, increased yield output on limited cultivated field, risk reduction smallholder farmers, higher income per unit work during times labor scarcity. Intercropping legumes with cereals, general, allows energy-efficient continuous agriculture. However, world's population grows, lack arable land major developmental limitation many rising countries' capacity to meet their basic food nutritional demands. most popular types intercropping used overcome poorly farmed terrain are mixed intercropping, row strip influenced by variety factors, choice compatible species, timing establishment/planting, knowledge physiology species be time, growth habits, plant density, canopy root architecture, water nutrient usage. Various competition indices cereal-legume have measure crop efficiency area land. Only few these Land Equivalent Ratio, Area Time Aggressivity, Relative Crowding Coefficient, Competitive Actual Yield Loss. A well-managed system found beneficial impacts utilization combined production low-input past. useful strategy sustainable agriculture security address all farmers developing countries.

Legume-Cereal Intercropping Improves Forage Yield, Quality and Degradability.

Intercropping legume with cereal is an extensively applied planting pattern in crop cultivation. However, forage potential and the degradability of harvested mixtures from intercropping system remain unclear. To investigate the feasibility of applying an intercropping system as a forage supply source to ruminants, two consecutive experiments (experiments 1 and 2) involving a field cultivation t...

Effects of Shade on Nitrogen and Phosphorus Acquisition in Cereal-Legume Intercropping Systems

With increasing economic and environmental costs associated with fertilizer use, the need for low-input agroecological systems is on the rise. It is well documented that intercropping legumes can increase the supply of nutrients, through N2-fixation and P mobilization. Concurrently, the integration of trees in the agricultural landscape shows increasing evidence of nutrient inputs through effic...

Grain legume–cereal intercropping: The practical application of diversity, competition and facilitation in arable and organic cropping systems

Intercropping is the simultaneous cultivation of more than one crop species on the same piece of land and is regarded as the practical application of basic ecological principles such as diversity, competition and facilitation. Field experiments were carried out on a sandy loam soil and a sandy soil in Denmark over three consecutive cropping seasons including dual grain legume (pea, faba bean an...
